David Allen announced the release of the version 1.0 of the NewsML Functional Specification describing and amplifying the NewsML Version 1.0 DTD published earlier this month.

NewsML is a XML based media neutral format for exchanging and managing news on the Internet.

After the publication and endorsement of NewsML 1.0 by the IPTC on October 11, this functional specification brings a detailed description of the new vocabulary.

Published as PDF, the document includes many examples of NewsML document fragments, always referring to the corresponding DTD fragment.

It includes a short overview, a list of the NewsML functions and elements, a glossary and a copy of the short form of the DTD.
