Rapping WAP, cHTML gateway
22:37, 24 Jun 2000 UTC | Simon St.Laurent

While the Free Protocols Foundation is calling WAP "a Trap", Logica is announcing a the "global launch" of a Compact HTML (cHTML) gateway, providing infrastructure for a WAP alternative widely used in Japan.

  • In The WAP Trap, the Free Protocols Foundation describes WAP as "A Procedural Fraud... A Technical Failure... A Basic Misconception." After cataloging WAP's flaws, the document proposes that developers support Lightweight and Efficient Applications Protocol (LEAP).
  • Logica's m-WorldGate product appears to be a complement to its mWorldPortalWAP product. Product details are not yet posted.
