New forms model requirements refined
19:36, 30 Mar 2000 UTC | Simon St.Laurent

The HTML Working Group has published a new Working Draft of XForms Requirements.

The requirements document begins with the same call to arms as its predecessor:

After careful consideration, the HTML Working Group has decided that the goals for the next generation of forms are incompatible with preserving full backwards compatibility with browsers designed for earlier versions of HTML.

The new draft is substantially reorganized, with additional material providing a Rationale and Target Audience in the Introduction. The requirements themselves are now addressed in separate sections and thoroughly rewritten. A new Future Considerations section provides possible paths for future work even before any public working drafts of XForm have emerged.
