The W3C's Technical Architecture Group (TAG) has commenced formal meetings and mailing list discussion.

The TAG, a group of nine people chaired by W3C Director Tim Berners-Lee, is chartered to focus on:

"underlying principles that should be adhered to by all Web components, whether developed inside or outside W3C. The architecture captures principles that affect such things as understandability, interoperability, scalability, accessibility, and internationalization."

The TAG is meeting by phone and IRC, and minutes are available on the main page. The TAG also maintains a mailing list for public discussion of architectural issues. So far, the TAG has accepted three issues (1 2 3), and another two have been proposed (1 2) on the list.
