21:06, 13 Dec 2001 UTC | Edd Dumbill

Altova have released version 4.2 of their XML Spy editor and development environment.

The two new major feature enhancements are support for SOAP and Oracle XML Schema extensions. XML Spy 4.2 Suite can now inspect a WSDL file and automatically generate SOAP client interfaces for the services described by the WSDL file. Spy 4.2 also supports Oracle's XML Schema extensions from Oracle's XDB native XML database support from Oracle 9i.

Other new features in this release include:

  • MSXML 4 support
  • XSLT designer enhancements
  • New editor and browser plugin APIs

XML Spy Suite is commercial software, available only for the Windows platform. An evaluation download is available from the XML Spy web site.
