Initial draft of DOM Level 3 XPath
07:34, 19 Jun 2001 UTC | Eric van der Vlist

Philippe Le Hegaret has announced a first public Working Draft for the Document Object Model (DOM) Level 3 XPath Specification, a specification to provide access to DOM trees using XPath 1.0 expressions.

The document is the result of collaborative work:

This is the result of discussions from the www-dom-xpath mailing list feedbacks from the xml-dev mailing list (1 and 2), and works in the DOM Working Group.

The main parts of this specification include a section about general considerations that documents the differences between the DOM and XPath data models (and states that the notion of ranges introduced by XPointer is out of its scope), and a description of the proposed interfaces.
