The XML Apache Project announced the release of version 1.0 of Batik, its toolkit for viewing, generating, and manipulating Scalable Vector Graphics.

The new version includes full filter effects support, full text support, full linking support, full support for structural elements, an improved generator and rasterizer, and performance improvements.

Batik 1.0 is built on the 20 November 2000 Candidate Recommendation of SVG. A status page indicates current conformance.

As demonstrations, Batik includes an SVG Browser, an SVG Rasterizer, an SVG Pretty Printer, and an SVG Font Converter.

Batik is open-source under the Apache license and is available for download. A FAQ is also available.
