OASIS have issued a call for participation in a new technical committee, to develop the eXtensible Access Control Markup Language.

The aim of the new TC is to define an XML vocabulary for the expression of authorization policies in XML against objects themselves expressed in XML. According to the CFP, issues to be addressed include:

fine grained control, the nature of the requestor, the protocol over which the request is made, content introspection, the types of activities authorized.

The committee chair is Simon Blackwell of PSoom. OASIS members desiring to participate in this committee should notify Blackwell at sblackwell@psoom.com at least 15 days before the first TC meeting, on May 21 2001.

Other proposers of this committee include representatives from Jamcracker, IBM, Cisco, HP and CrossLogix.
