PC Week's John Taschek asks
"So why does anyone think that a standards body built
around XML will work?"
Taschek complains that "XML's facing troubled times
simply because it is getting more popular," noting
the
recent decisions of various auto manufacturers to create
their own organizations for creating e-commerce standards as
a sign that
XML isn't in fact the "Holy Grail of unifying
technology".
In Taschek's view, "The losers are pie-in-the-sky
XML-indoctrinated organizations, such as the
Microsoft-spearheaded BizTalk.org and OASIS. "
