The W3C has issued a last call working draft for XPointer, the XML
Pointer Language. The closing date for comments is 27
December.
XPointer allows the referencing of document fragments
within an XML document.
After co-operation with the XSL working group, the
XPointer working group adopted XPath as the
base language for addressing parts of a document.
XPointer adds the following functionality to XPath:
- Address points and ranges as well as nodes
- Locate information by string matching
- Use addressing expressions in URI-references as
fragment identifiers
