19:31, 24 Oct 2001 UTC | Edd Dumbill

The XML development environment XML-Spy has moved to version 4.1, and now includes authoring and transformation support for XSL Formatting Objects.

XML-Spy Suite 4.1 includes three components: a document editor, XSLT designer, and an IDE. New functionality in this latest release includes:

  • Authoring support for XSL-FO
  • Built-in support for the Apache FOP XSL-FO formatter
  • Complete support for W3C XML Schema
  • ODBC and ADO database access

XML-Spy is comercial software. A trial download is available from the XML-Spy web site.

It should be noted, though, that while new features are rolled out, the very basic things dont work. The schema validator breaks down whenever it sees key constraints (i.e. it always flags validation errors when there are none)
