Edd Dumbill to chair XML Europe 2002
06:51, 28 May 2001 UTC | Eric van der Vlist

Concluding her closing keynotes at XML Europe 2001, Pamela Gennusa has announced that Edd Dumbill is to chair the next GCA European XML conference for which a location hasn't yet been chosen.

Gennusa said that after chairing GCA European conferences for a whole decade she was happy to announce that Edd Dumbill, Managing Editor of O'Reilly's XML.com web site and closing keynote speaker at the XML Europe 2000 and 2001 conferences would be her successor.

During his closing keynote Dumbill had listed the major achievements and works in progress since last year and pleaded for XML technology to stay simple to keep barriers to entry low and leave a large space for individual contributors and "heroes" as has been the case since 1998.

In addition to being Managing Director of XML.com, UK (York) based Dumbill is also chairing the O'Reilly XTech 2001 conference (in association with GCA), an event that is part of the O'Reilly Open Source Convention from July 23-27, 2001 in San Diego, California.
