Dan Veillard has announced the initial beta release of
libxslt, a C library based on libxml. While the library is
still incomplete, Veillard has committed to
fixing bugs in a timely fashion and expects
a weekly release cycle for the next few months.
The library is expected to become part of the
Gnome project, and is thus likely to become an
integral part of many Linux distributions.
At present the library, which includes a test
application, does not implement the full XSLT 1.0
specification. Notably it lacks support for:
- Extensions support
- Embedding Stylesheets
- Some part of xsl:number
- xsl:apply-imports
- document() and key() are incomplete
Veillard notes that bugs should be reported to
the xml@rpmfind.net mailing list, or
the Gnome Bug tracking database.
Accompanying the new library, Veillard has also announced a bug fix release of libxml.
