A new email discussion list, xml-server, has been formed with the purpose of investigating and potentially developing a XML server platform.

Initiated by Eric van der Vlist, the aims of the group are to identify desirable features for an XML-based data/application server, search for these features in existing products and, if necessary, consider the creation of an open-source project to implement the server.

The project seems to have captured the imagination of several XML developers, including Paul Tchistopolskii, formerly of RenderX. Particular attention is being given to the integration of XSLT and SQL.
