Michael Dyck has announced the availability of an XML version of the GCIDE dictionary, derived from Webster's dictionary. The full download totals about 13MB of zip files.

The Collaborative Internet Dictionary project is an ongoing effort to "develop a modern on-line comprehensive encyclopaedic dictionary, by the efforts of all individuals willing to help build a large and freely available knowledge base".

Michael Dyck hopes eventually to provide a DTD/schema, a style sheet and a search engine for use with the dictionary. He invites others to help in this effort.
