Less than two weeks after its predecessor appeared, the W3C has issued a revised draft of Canonical XML.

The primary changes to this draft, noted in the Status section, involve making it clearer that:

"It is not necessary for implementations to use XPath to generate the canonical form of an XML document."

The XPath model is used to describe Canonical XML, but applications don't need to use or understand XPath to use Canonical XML.
