XHTML Basic too big for you? John Cowan announced version 6.0 of IBTWSH, the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Simple Hypertext DTD.
Cowan describes the problem solved by IBTWSH, a subset of XHTML Basic, as:
"It is often convenient for XML documents to have a bit of documentation somewhere in them. In the absence of a DTD like this one, that documentation winds up being #PCDATA only, which is a pity, because rich text adds measurably to the readability of documents."
Though IBTWSH is intended "for embedded use within other XML DTDs," Cowan provides html
, head
, title
, and body
element types for documents that only contain IBTWSH markup.
An earlier incarnation of IBTWSH was used in the Document Description Markup Language (DDML) for human-readable documentation.
