Inboxes all over the world breathed a sigh of
relief as the torrent of XML discussion on XML-DEV
halted, apparently for network connectivity reasons.
After suffering one- to four-hour transmission delays
last week, XML-DEV stopped sending and accepting messages
around
20:00 UTC on Saturday.
Some messages arrived at approximately 05:00 UTC Tuesday, and messages continue to appear. It isn't yet clear if the earlier
performance difficulties have passed.
Update: OASIS Executive Director Laura Walker said Tuesday that "OASIS is vigilant when it
comes to the list. This involved network provider problems with connecting to the Internet backbone, and wasn't unique to
OASIS." OASIS CTO Alan Hester described XML-DEV as "a vital mailing list" and was taking steps to
correct the problems.
