Editors' Newswire

The growth of XML over the two years since xmlhack was created has left the editorial team facing more stories than we can possibly cover editorially. News items such as minor releases of software or new vertical industry DTDs are often hard to make a substantial story from.

However, we didn't want to lose this information, as many people will find it useful. The result is the Editors' Newswire. The newswire features items of interest to anyone working with XML, and is updated in real time as the editors receive news. Even items that end up as larger stories will probably feature first on the newswire.

If you're used to checking xmlhack once a day, or several times a week, you'll now find information that changes throughout the day.

How the newswire works

The newswire is driven by a Daily Chump robot. This is a program that sits on the editors' IRC channel and listens out for URLs of interest. The xmlhack editorial system then picks up ones destined for publication and includes them on the front page.

And it's done using XML, of course!
